ticking/clicking from the glovebox?

This morning I turned the car on and the glovebox area started making a really loud clicking/ticking noise. I'm pretty sure the ECU is behind it so would it be coming from that, and what the hell does it mean?
The car hasn't changed in performance at all, it all seems to function and operate as per the norm, except for that one thing.
It clicks about 124 times if my counting is accurate. Really confused as to what it could be, but car is off the road until i find out.
Any help is appreciated!

rofl, u sat there and counted? lol
maybe u have a bomb in your glove box lol
um.. if its the ecu making the noise then your car wont move, ecu = no moving parts, if it's making "clicking noise", then that's short circurting and trying to set fire to your car, so if u sat there and counted it without being burnt to a crisp then it's probably not that... (well might not burnt to a crisp cos a fire wont start unless there's an accelerent there to fuel it, but u'd be able to smell plastic burning)..
apparently a few ppl on here had similar problems as to what u said, and they always come to the same conclusion: aircon/vents, so check that
Edit: bah, max already got to this oops

it's not aircon vents, nor is it short circuiting. It's not a tapping noise like mechanical parts hitting eachother. I counted because it's consistent; it happens only when i turn the car on, counts about that many times then stops and never comes back.
This lead me to suspect it was some kind of error diagnostic number, however I'm unable to find any information to suggest it, or of anyone else having the same problem.

When I say, 'turn the car on' I mean, turn it to accessories. The car doesn't need to be started for this to occur. However, it will reset when I start the car, because power is reset. Just as it resets if I turn it to off then back to accessories again.
These are more reasons I believe it's some kind of error warning, but I could be wrong.

Try changing the climate control airflow from recycled to fresh and see if the sound stops next time you hear it (even if the climate control is off).

so the climate control thing fixed it?
btw, 124 clicks... lol imagine a mechanic trying to figure out what the problem is with that...
"120... 121... 122... 123... arrhh crap i lost count"

Imagine an auto elec trying to figure it out from the engine light flashing. Yeah, really impossible ...

I bumped an old topic I know but atleast i did a search
My aircon does the same ticking probably 124 times too and then stops and also stops when i change it from recycled to fresh air
so I can stop it by hitting the recycle/fresh button
But how do I really fix it so i can have it on recycle without it making that annoying noise?
any guides or anything
cheers

My car still does it. It is the motorised vent that switches between recycled and fresh air for the climate control; I think it gets jammed or the motor doesn't know that the vent is closed and keeps trying to close it. It looks like a bitch to get to, from memory you have to take the whole dash out... so I just put up with the clicking or switch it to fresh air when I get in the car
