dirty sensor? trace it and clean it.

or broken wiring maybe...

check error codes or trace the wiring.

What type of oil does your friend use Kermet? I had this experience when i put some engine additive into two different car and the engine lights turns on every now and then. Some senor on cars are dam sensitive.

So it could be the type of oil your mate is using too.

check for codes, the oil pressure sensor has probably died, its common for the holden GEN3 5.7l V8 oil pressure sensor to die and they usually set a oil pressure sensor high voltage code, if its not that oil level is low or the oil pump is dieing.
