I has the exact same thing in mine when i first got it... if u accelerate it only does it once... then when u brake as u start to slow it does it again?
Like a ball rolling in a tube?
It was some linkages or something in the front suspension... cost about $100 or something for him to fix it.

I am having a similar problem when coming to a complete stop, or as soon as I let my foot off the brake, but it is more of a 'rubbing' sound with a bit of a creaking & there is a shudder. It started happening just after I replaced the brake pads, I am guessing because I didn't bother with machining the discs...
I have been told to take off my brake pads again & lightly rub them on some concrete to roughen them up a bit & then put them back on... just haven't had time / been bothered to do it yet, hasn't been such a major deal (It is kinda embarrassing when I rock up to the lights and my car is making these nasty noises though)

Engine mounts
Engine mounts will definitely make that noise if they have had it. Had one go on mine last year. You can generally tell with 2 people by having one stand on the brake while tapping the accellerator and the other watching the engine for movement. The engine should not move much, but if a broken mount, the torque will cause it to lift. On mine, one of the rear mounts let go and when you gave the accellerator a sharp tap, the back of the engine would lift about an inch.
