HI AJ, sorry to hear about this.

I've had somehting similar happen of late. Actually I've just had it happen for the third time. MY problem seems to be the pull for the power sterring and air-con belt's bearing fails which causes the belt to move over and then it starts to strip and takes the alternator belt with it as it lets go. Thankfully the one time this happened to me it didn't take anything else with it.

The second time I was able to stop before the belt let go and this was when I found the pull was stuffed. My mechanic fitted another one but it looks like that has failed now as well.

I'm hoping I've just got bad luck and something isn't causing thes bearings to fail.

Just thought I'd let you know about this. Might be worht making sure that there is no movement in anything (the pull or runners - or whatever their called)

Cheers for that RallyMad.

Got everything sorted today but forgot to ask why it might have happened so will call him back later on and try to find out.

Cheers for the help everyone. All up it has cost me $200. $150 labour and $50 for belts.

The guy who fixed my belts check the pullyes and everything and said they are fine, he thinks it's just becasue they where old and one has let go and taken the other with it. He might be right, I've had it 3 years and I don't think they've been changed.

Where's the tensioner bolt for the p/s a/c belt? I can see the one for the alternator.
