Walbro Fuel Pump

Post by HiRAEdd »

This is just an FYI post.
I'm sure some of you have put on after-market fuel pumps, possibly even a Walbro. I've just had one of these fitted and wow, what a noisy little f$%cker it is! The constant whining sound drives me nuts but I've been assured it's normal and I've confirmed this in my own research too. The Mitsu's are particularly noisy with after-market pumps. Anyway, my solution is going to be getting a sheet of sound insulation and laying it underneath the back seat. I reckon that should cut out the cabin noise substantially.

I've got a Holley Red pump in my mini & it sounds like a jackhammer! I wrapped it in carpet to shut it up.

The FTO has it in the fuel tank apparently so I'm very reluctant to wrap anything around it.

Just out of interest.....

Is there a specific Walbro pump that you need to use on the FTO? or are they generic?

Cheers

Don't know to be honest, my invoice just says Walbro Fuel Pump. If I remember, I'll ask when I pick my car up at the end of the week.
