Have you checked the belts for any damage (such as fraying or splitting) yet ? Pretty rare for a pulley to get damaged.

It is actually spelt pulley. Do a "how things work" search.

It is one of the round things on the side of the engine that the belts run around.

It will most likely be your lower tensioner pulley. If the bearings are shot, it will usually make noise.

Sorry you went past three mechanics and why didnt you ask them to order one in and change it for you? They prob will charge you 20 bucks labour and will prob be able to get the part cheaper than you.

I agree, check through the VIC section for a reputable FTO mechanic.. you may just have to bite the bullet & get it done, while you have it there they might even spot some other things that need to be done which you might as well get fixed up at the same time ...

e.g. get them to do the belts at the same time as the pulley, and if the other pulleys are in bad shape it might be worth replacing those now instead of later if you have the cash..
