Worst surprise ever

Post by brad_gpx »

Thought I'd share my sh*t experience that I had today

I Signed up for a bunch of research studies (have to do them for my course) and normally they are just like survey sort of things so I didn't bother reading what I signed up for.

Anyway I get to uni today and I go into this place I've never been before and they had machines with biohazard stickers on them and then they put electrodes on me and gel and it is so f**king uncomfortable and they start doing all these scans and make me stare at a computer screen and press buttons for 2 hours!!!

Anyway lesson learnt. Alway read what your signing up for

Were the electrodes connected to your head? If so, it sounds like what they are trying to pass off as an ADHD test.

Here kid stare at this monitor for 2 hours looking at stupid patterns. Oh, sorry you looked away from the screen for a split second, you must have ADHD.

Yep on my head they even showed me how when I clench my jaw or move it fucks up the test. So I couldn't move. I also had certain times when I was allowed to blink because if I did it at the wrong time it would cause "noise" which would also ruin the results.

My wife works in neurophysiology and she used to practice on me so I am very familiar with the setup. Not the most fun but it does have a lot of useful applications. (ADHD diagnosis is not one of them.)
