Envy was sure that it must have had forged internals because when I first took it to him it was running so lean that it should have blown up. He'd never seen a stock engine run so lean and no blow up. 1-0 to Mitsubishi.

I'd be avoiding GCG. Pricey and there have been recent mixed results from them (info on this on s a u forums).

I'd be recommending hypergear down in victoria. Just remove turbo, box carefully and send to them. They're a forum regualr/sponsor on s a u, have good prices and everyone's been reporting good work and service. Turbo rebuilds start from $450, they receive turbo, inspect and examine, provide proper quote and wait for your approval before commencing then send back to you.

Pretty easy to remove turbo, especially if yours is a high mount. Just undo the dump pipe from the rear housing (gt28's will have 5 bolts to undo), then move the dump pipe. Undo the coolant line and the oil lines from the turbo (you will lose most of your coolant, have something ready to catch it), undo the nuts from the turbo studs and the turbo should come off. Oh yeah, and the inlet piping shiz.

If you're game, you should be able to buy gt28 rebuild kits on ebay for a few hundred only and diy too hehe.

This is true, but you'd wanna get it rebalanced after you'd done it...

From a quantity of nuts & bolts perspective, sure. However, if its been on there a while, those nuts & bolts can be pretty f*cken tight! *Pops vein in forehead*

Coilovers or adjustable struts?...That is the question.

I'd like a comfortable ride for everyday but with the option to tighten things up when the time calls for it.

Height adjustable struts? Get that then... Iv recently put my coilovers to the softest and they're harder than I expected

Coil overs with the right spring rate..

Expensive coilovers will give you the comfort you're after and also the performance.

E.g. Cusco coilovers etc

Unfortunately, you pay what you get for is still very true!
The lower entry level decent coilovers are great performance but not so great comfort e.g. BC gold's, HSD, etc.
Then you've got the POS' that should be burnt like xyz coilovers off ebay for 800 bucks lol.

Im not AJ but i can answer the question for u

It was already done when he brought the car, the previous owner did it. The big middle stripe is actually painted on and the thin outer stripes is just a sticker.

OK, so the 3 big things that need doing are...

-New/reconditioned turbo
-Suspension
-Brakes

and I'm going to have to do them in this order.

Brakes I'm going to get through Astron Boy's contact so no need to go on about them just yet.

I got quoted $3000-$3300 by Fulcrum for a set of tien's the other day which is just way too expensive. Going to need some help on this one but lets worry about the snail first.

I need either my turbo reconditioning or replaced for a new one. I've had quotes over the phone and by email (so bare in mind that they haven't seen the turbo) and basically I'm looking at at least $1000

GCG said "the base price for repairs is around $850.00. If it definately needs a bearing pack, you would be looking over $1000 to repair as the parts are quite expensive, hence why we haven't repaired one of these units in about 4 years (customers usually buy a new or larger unit due to the cost being close to a new turbocharger)."

Pulse racing gave me a price a lilttle time ago for $2400 for a set of Tien's.
