Transmission Fluid At High Temperature

Post by Nacho »

Just a random question.......

What would happen if the transmission fluid in a tiptronic box were to get really hot?

Or long story short.....the radiator in a tiptronic has a cooling line for the tranny fluid.....any thoughts on whether you really need to cool the tip fluid down via the radiator or would it be ok with a little airflow?

Same theory as your engine oil.
Once you cooked the oil, it lost its' lubricant effect thus damaging your gearbox.

One extra thing on auto/tip-box is that when you got a boiling atf flow through your torque converter, it's gonna blow it.

Heat in auto boxes is number one killer of them. The cooler the better.

I've got this and my tranny has not run better.
