WTB: Cam gears 6A12 mivec

Post by clint111 »

Do cam gears from anything else fit, or must they be specifically for fto?
IE, is this one of those items where certain evo items can interchange, and if so, which model evo/motor?

The ones from the 4G9X DOHC motors fit, but you would need 2 sets.
Also, one of the cam gears on the 6A12 has a cam angle sensor which you would need to modify to the 4G9X cam gears.

RPW.com.au sells some factory modified cam gears but this is the most expensive option.

Works Engineering makes some.

There is another company in the UK that makes them too.

Visit clubvr4.com as it is more covered there and the cam gears between the 6A13TT and 6A12 are the same.

Im just pulling a mivec apart now if that helps. Are these the cogs on the end of the camshafts or something else?

    Yes Dwayne, that's them.
Looking for the after market adjustable jobbies.
    4G9x motor camgears fit? Nice.
The sensor mod, its a mod for clearance issue, I take it?
I have seen a nice set (pair) from an online retailer for $219/pr.
Figured thats a nice price, if they will work, which, apparently they will.
    Thanks.

I cannot say if they will work but I would assume not.
Why not buy some specific 6A12 cam gears?
There is a place in the UK that makes them, also Works Engineering as I mentioned before, you can get your standard ones modified to be adjustable, and the 4G9X DOHC X 2 will fit with 1 needing slight modification for the cam angle sensor.

Go to clubvr4.com as there is some info on cam gears there, and all the 6A1X DOHC cam gears are interchangeable.

    Specific for 6A12?
    Because of the price!

I expect to need to spend a reasonable amount, but $1000 for rpw to modify mine, I believe, is a bit too much of an ask.
I am liking those Works Engineering units though.
Anywhere in Aus to source them?

I could not find them in Australia however I found them on ebay for $385 including delivery. I believe he could have been talked down a bit in price though.
What you should do is find someone who sells any Works Engineering cam gears on ebay, and then message them asking for the 6A12 ones, this is what I did.
Give them the product code from the website:

    Yep, onto it, done that.
Will get the radiator header tank, and the cam gears I have been offered for $330, shipping included, from an aus seller..

Once you get them can you take pics and write a review on them?

Just an update, for anyone considering these, they have the sensor plate on one of the cam gears, suitable for the mivec motor. (Not sure if that sensor/plate is specific to the mivec motor or not)

What ECU are you using? I run a Haltech & we just ground 3 out of the 4 tabs off it & it worked a treat.
