Well... look, it might be "user error" in computer speak (ie, i did something silly), but, I'm willing to throw some $'s your way to get closer to the bottom of it. Um,if I can find the PM button I'll shoot you off my number if you like, or give you a call if you like?Vectose wrote:It could still be tappets, could be that one of the plastic collets has broken off a tappet and is now out of spec. So yeah, I can adjust them for you and see if that fixes the problem.

Sorry, missed this one.Daniel2019 wrote:Who knows. Are you able to get a video of it up at all?
If its still performing fine then my guess is an accessory/alternator pulley being stuffed up by having a rock go through it. Although without getting your hopes up, its hard to tell without hearing it.
Vectose (Roberta ) will be able to diagnose.
Well... it's at the mechanics, I don't suppose he can say "no, don't go and turn your own car on". I'll feel awfully rude but... hm. Yeah, I can get a video up

Like you said, it's your car. If he hesitates or tries to stop you, get your car out of there.

*grins* I was gonna go more along the lines of "my brother wanted me to grab a video before I scrap it, would you mind terribly?" Haha, but hehe, I think I like your version betterDaniel2019 wrote:"Hey mate, just wondering if I could get a quick video for future reference"

Re: WTB: Mivec Engine
Same thing. Just make sure the diagnosis is correct, dont jump into a new engine just yet.
Sure, if it actually is buggered then by all means, but just double check first

Re: WTB: Mivec Engine

Re: WTB: Mivec Engine
Definitely doesn't sound bottom end.
Sounds more like an aggressive vacuum leak...
Or even like 1 spark plug not being in, however it idles perfectly fine.
But yeah, have a look at all the pulley ware and belts. *timing and water*
Alternator/ water pump? Sounds almost like my old NX...
Get a large screwdriver and place the end near your ear with the tip on certain parts of the cars engine.
Will give you an indication where-abouts the noise is coming from.

Re: WTB: Mivec Engine
I... have never even learned to change my own oil honestly, let alone taking bit off the engine off *grins* A rock in there actually doesn't seem that unlikely you know... I did drive it on a pretty hectic dirt road like, the last time I drove it before it started making that noise. My pet ferret had just died, so the engine was the last thing on my mind.destinationtoby wrote:could be one of the pulleys hitting something :/ like a rock or a washer or something stuck in there. have u taken the plastic case/ guard things off to have a look?

Definitely doesn't sound like it? Right.. well that's a good start. What do you think of the rock caught somewhere theory?Astron_Boy wrote:Definitely doesn't sound bottom end.

Alternator? Water pump? Timing belts? Pulley ware? What are they, where are they? What do they do? What would I look for (I'm not even really joking
Haha... screwdriver stethoscope!!! Too f**king awesome *grins* If it wasn't in the shop, I would LOVE to try that out!
