I have been looking at doing a RWD be cause it hasn't been done yet, and there is probably 2 ways in getting a RWD FTO:
1: having it as a FR, having the engine at the front and getting the rear wheels to drive, this would mean that I would have to rotate the engine 90 degrees so that the crank will face towards the rear, new engine mounts, find a gearbox that will mount up with the engine, custom bell-housing, make a whole new transmission tunnel, cross member for the gearbox, drive shaft, diff, a whole new rear suspenion...and so on.
2: having it as a MR, having the engine mounted in the middle of the car or basically in between the front and rear wheels and the rear wheels will drive the car...I would have to relocate the engine and gearbox some where between the rearseats and boot, relocate fuel tank to the front(under the bonnet), make crossmembers for the engine and gearbox, firewall for the rear, a whole new rear suspenion, engine mounts...and so on.
Here is a few pic of a Honda CRX converted in to a MR, it was done by Top Fuel in japan, they relocated the engine and gearbox in the rear, turbo'd the motor, put a racing fuel tank in the front and that, but the main thing it is a rear wheel drive.

Not much under the bonnet except for a fuel tank and master cylinder etc.

The turbo'd motor in the rear.

I reacon going MR would be a better option because it would be more balanced, with the design of the car being pretty short, making it a FR would make it a bit unbalanced and more difficult to drive with out spining out, but a lot needs to be looking into doing this from a design point of view.
