My Dyno results

Post by JayME »

Dyno'd my 96 FTO GPX today

Made 166.4 HP at the wheels
(124.08kw according to HP converter at http://www.bikez.com/conv/power.php)

Pretty happy with results - a nasty drop in torque at around 5000rpm which I am told is due to Mivec coming in too early (had it set at 4900rpm) Have now set to 5600rpm

Performance mods on the car include 2.5" exhaust, custom extractors, pod filter and Field mivec controller.

Any suggestions next mod?? :P

Is a hub dyno, it usually read higher then the one on rolling.

I still haven't got a chance to dyno mine ... would be funny if mine's like only 90kmw atw
The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problem.

Yes - Dynapack hub dyno. Maybe a bit cooler temp than Aus which might make a slight difference too :P

Extractors are custom made - Mainly mild steel with the pipes that come out of the front stainless for some bling.

Rear diff would be cool - not the highest priority though  Maybe a few more HP so I beat you on the dyno next time!!

How much did you get the extractors for? There are still a lot of people here in OZ that need extractors.

Cost me $850 fitted and ready to go - Seemed a better option for me than bringing them in from Aus - Noticable difference with them on too. I can actually hear the Pod filter sucking air at an idle now where I couldnt before and it feels far more responsive.

Made by Pitstop on Fitzgerald Ave here in Christchurch. Went on the RPW website and got a pic of theres to show them as a reference - and the princaple of how they work is pretty simple really. The guys there are pertty clued up and did a real nice job.

what? he produced 166hp at the wheels which usually translates to arund 160kws at the fly. So he is producing 13kws more than stock.

If the FTO average is 90kws stock at the wheels a loss of more than 30% in a FWD car is massive. Either FTO's are aging a lot or mitsu over quoted power figures.

Usually 20% is the average. If you take in comparison a lot for other 150kw cars usually produce around 110kws.

If you take into consideration your average than that equates to about 120-130hp at the wheels which makes the Mivec a 120-130kw engine.

Also states 170 mn of torque??? Bit lower isnt it??? I would be expecting 220-230 at least!
